Watch this space for lots of opportunities to get involved in this year’s event.

Ahead of the release of our festival programme here are some workshops for those who would like to get involved in our annual Light Night launch parade. This year it will be all about our dreams and imaginations.

Lantern making craft workshop with Charlotte Jones

Artist Charlotte Jones will be leading a family-friendly, fairytale based craft workshop where participants will make lampshades out of paper. These lampshades will then either decorate Gipton Old Fire Station, be marched with in the Light Night Leeds launch parade, or will be a part of the set used by Northern Rascals who will be performing “Tales of the Mesmerist” as part of our street entertainment programme.

Face and body painting workshop with Marie Koehl

Marie will kick the workshop off demonstrating different body painting techniques, and then will encourage participants to get creative and paint their workshop partner. Those who attend will then have the opportunity to show off their designs in the Light Night Leeds launch parade.

Details of more public workshops and how to get involved in the 2019 festival will be posted here soon. In the meantime you can keep up to date by following us on social media.
